NCEED helped plan and was a presenter at the first Baltimore Schools in the Court Day sponsored by the Baltimore District Court on Friday December 6, 2024. The event is an intervention designed to address chronic absenteeism and confront students’ decision making. The Court, under the supervision of Judge Diana Smith, a Morgan State alumna, invited NCEED to be a partner one year ago. During this event students from Mervo High School heard presentations from the Chief Public Defender, Chief Prosecutor and Baltimore City Police, the city’s Public Health Department and Emergency Services, and the mother of a daughter who died from a drug overdose. NCEED spoke on the importance of school attendance, making the right choices in behavior and friends circle, and how to be college ready.
Comment from Judge Smith: Thank you Mr. Fields. You were magnificent! Your message was energetic, sincere, and resonated with students and adults alike. Morgan State University certainly did well by us!
