On Friday, September 15, NCEED collaborated with the Office of Disability Services to host a professional development workshop on *Paragraphology*, a structured writing methodology developed and delivered by educators from the Jemicy School. Designed for individuals working with writing instruction, the training introduced participants to a multisensory, scaffolded approach to writing instruction that emphasizes clarity, organization, and critical thinking. The workshop walked attendees through the full writing process, from brainstorming and color-coded planning to constructing basic paragraphs, developing thesis statements, and organizing five-paragraph essays. Special emphasis was placed on strategies for unlocking writing prompts and using graphic organizers to support student success across content areas.
Participants engaged in hands-on activities and explored tools that can be immediately implemented in classrooms to support diverse learners, particularly those who struggle with structure and coherence in writing. The training highlighted Paragraphology’s potential to bridge the gap between student understanding and academic expectations, offering a consistent, research-based framework that enhances both teaching and learning.
Attendees left with practical resources, renewed confidence, and a deeper understanding of how to make writing instruction more accessible and effective for all students.
